Man I could not agree with this more. I’m currently working on my next startup and I can’t stand when I get the question from investors about the amount of time we are spending on this. If the product works and we can manage the business then time is irrelevant. I would rather work smarter not harder and much like Basecamp our team is globally distributed so why do I need to work 9 to whatever in my time zone when my developers are not even up yet.

The business needs to evolve the thinking as many startups before us like Basecamp have laid the ground work to build these new businesses that can truly manage balance in work/ life and scale.
